Beat Factor Magazine Interview w/Eris [05/17/2011]
Q: Is Eris your real name?
A: No, my real name is Elizabeth Ann Kennedy, Eris is just my stage name.
Q: How did you come up with the name “Eris”?
A: Eris was a character from one of my favorite mythology stories. I have always been a kind of geek for Greek Mythology and the name “Eris” just kind of stuck with me.
Q: How did you feel about working on the “Stab” soundtrack?
A: Excellent. I love horror movies and television shows so working on the soundtrack was quite an honor for me.
Q: How did you go about writing and producing the music for the soundtrack?
A: I wanted to create something dark and sinister that would add dramatic effect to the series but I wanted to create something danceable as well. I used heavy beats and dark synths that created a creepy atmosphere but could still be played on the dance floor.
Q: How is your next album coming along? Will it sound similar to the soundtrack?
A: The next album is coming along great and it’s almost completed. The sound will be much less dark than the soundtrack and more dance-pop like than the straight up electronica on the soundtrack. I have also been working with DJ Esrever, a relatively new producer, on the album. On “Stab” I produced everything myself.
Q: Have you made any plans about the first single from your new album?
A: Yes, the new single will be out soon in the coming months. I am not ready to give out a title yet, but I will say that it’s very danceable and a lot of fun.
