Vibe Records CEO announced in a conference call today that he is stepping down in January and all new artists will not be releasing material until a new CEO is in place. The CEO left Sober Records and took over Vibe Records when it launched. Most of the artists on Vibe were not too happy when he was announced as the CEO because of his lack of history in Urban music. The new CEO is expected to be announced tonight, but he or she won't take over until after January 30th.

Sheki has been announced as the new CEO for Vibe Records! In a interview set to air on Entertainment Tonight on Monday Sheki opens up about some of the issues she, and many others, have had with the label since it launched. She cites creative differences on each of her albums and the CEO saying who she could and couldn't work with as reasons she almost left for another label last year. "I had another label courting me for months and I was so close to signing with them and leaving Vibe Records." Sheki doesn't name names in the interview but she does give one hint, "The label has several people I have worked with and am great friends with. I look to working with them even more in the very near future." Sheki wouldn't give away any of her upcoming plans for the label but said the genre was missing one thing. "We currently don't have enough males in Urban and to be frank Vibe Records is partly to blame for that. I fought for the new male artists that we have signed over the past 5 months and I want to expand on finding more males, I also want to find more unique female artists that will bring something new to the table and not be the same female over and over again." We hear she dishes more insider information in the interview and we will be shocked at some of the things she has to say about the current CEO and the sister label, Sober Records. Tune in Monday for the full interview and check back to EOnline for a full recap on Tuesday.
