Patricia Velásquez announced today that she has a new album coming out before the end of 2012. This release comes on the heels of her successful debut, 2011's Sensual, which was certified Latin Platinum, and spawned three hit singles, including "Nightlife."
Velásquez had not planned on putting out new music this year, but she says things changed because she got inspired. "I just got ideas for songs and I had to sit down and write and create my work. Before I know it I have enough material for a new [album] and I'm just like, 'why wait?'"
She says the album is finished and will be a bit different than her last record. "My first album was mostly in Spanish but I feel like I want to make myself more accessible to pop fans, so this time I did it all in English. I'm staying true to my Latin roots though and I will have some of the singles also in Spanish, too."
Velásquez said the lead single is another sexy, dance-pop number and fans can expect it to drop sometime early this fall with the album to follow in Q4 of 2012.

Patricia Velásquez announces the release of her new single, "Trilingual." The tune combines Velásquez's Latin flavor with a radio friendly and danceable pop sound. The song title itself is a double entendre, referring to the phrase of being 'trilingual' as a combination of speaking multiple languages, though, in dirty fashion, the song twists the meaning to also cover the plot which finds Velásquez detailing a passionate and steamy threesome. It was also recorded in Spanish, under the title "Trilingüe," for Latin radio. "Trilingual" goes for CHR/Pop adds on September 18. It will be available for digital download September 25. A music video is in the works and more information will be revealed soon.
