Hayley Dunn Breaks Digital Records While Holding at No. 1 Hayley Dunn's "Love the Way You Lie" holds at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 for a fourth consecutive week while breaking digital records in the process. "Love the Way You Lie" sold 546,000 digital downloads (up 65%) according to Nielsen SoundScan for the sales week ending September 4, 2011. This shatter's the previous record previously set by Katy Smith's "Don't Stop" earlier this year with 418,000 for best sales frame ever and best sales frame ever for a female artist. Numerous factors led to "Love the Way You Lie"'s explosive sales. Dunn received a standing ovation at the MTV Video Music Awards on August 28. She was joined by Slim Shady who performed "Mockingbird" and a special rap verse for "Love the Way You Lie". The special remix was released at midnight following the performance. Also, airplay continues to explode rising 3-2 on Radio Songs with 149 million audience impressions. Dunn's debut album "Beautiful Nightmare" will be released on September 20. Slim Shady's "Mockingbird" rises 5-2 on the chart marking his second best peak on the Hot 100 after his number-one single "I Need a Doctor". "Love the Way You Lie" and "Mockingbird" lead a group of songs on the chart that experienced boosts due to VMA exposure. Nate Nash's "Out of This World", featuring Anna Thomas, rose 8-3 to a new Hot 100 peak after spending two weeks at No. 8. Core Four's former number-one single "Party All the Time" dipped 2-4 while Katy Smith and Lady Dee's "Til the End rounded out the Top 5 falling 4-5. Serena's "Breakthrough", Nicki Lee's "Girlfriend", and Jessica King's "Lose Control", featuring Mr. Whiz, held at No. 6, No. 7 and No. 9 respectively. Jen Atkinson moved 11-8 with "Miss You Being Gone" to achieve her first top 10 on the Hot 100. Rachel Simpson's "Toy Solider" dips 3-10, rounding out this week's top 10. Last week, the song experienced a media blitz including the single being discounted on iTunes, a remix with rappers Papa Joe and Nicki Lee, as well as multiple live performances and interviews by Simpson. Digital downloads plunged 45% this week to 103,000. The full Hot 100 will be posted shortly.
